Role Purpose

The Head of Finance Business Partnering is a senior finance leadership role responsible for embedding finance as a strategic partner to the business. The role leads the finance business partnering function, providing commercial insight, financial leadership, and decision support to operational, commercial, and corporate functions. The incumbent will drive performance management, capital and resource optimisation, and support strategic initiatives to maximise value creation while maintaining strong financial discipline.
 
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the CFO and senior leadership team, supporting business strategy, growth initiatives, and major investment decisions.
  • Provide forward-looking financial insight, scenario analysis, and recommendations to support network planning, fleet decisions, pricing, cost optimisation, and commercial strategy.
  • Challenge business assumptions constructively and ensure financial rigour in decision-making.
Performance Management
  • Lead the finance business partnering teams aligned to key business areas (e.g. Commercial, Operations, Digital, Corporate Functions).
  • Drive robust performance management, including budgeting, forecasting, rolling outlooks, and variance analysis. Support business units in financial planning.
  • Translate financial results into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Support business units in identifying risks, opportunities, and value-creation initiatives.
Business Partnering & Decision Support
  • Oversee the development of business cases for new initiatives, capital expenditure, and transformation programmes.
  • Ensure consistent financial evaluation frameworks are applied across the organisation (e.g. ROI, NPV, payback).
  • Partner with business leaders to prioritise investments and resource allocation in line with strategic objectives.
Leadership & Capability Building
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance business partnering team with strong commercial acumen.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance function.
  • Enhance finance capabilities in data analytics, storytelling, and strategic advisory skills.
Governance, Risk & Controls
  • Ensure financial governance, internal controls, and compliance requirements are embedded within business partnering activities.
  • Work closely with Financial Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Pperation finance teams to ensure consistency between management reporting and statutory reporting.
  • Support audit, risk management, and board-level reporting as required.

 

Requirements
Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field discipline.
  • Qualified accountant with CPA/ACCA/CA title or equivalent
Experiences
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience, with significant senior-level business partnering exposure.
  • Proven experience partnering with executive and senior management in a complex, fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated track record in strategic planning, financial decision support, and driving business performance.
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams.
