Objective

The Legal Department is responsible for developing HK Express’ legal strategy and providing all-rounded legal services to the Business in the most effective manner.  As General Counsel, you will be an active partner to the Business and take part in shaping the future of an exceptional industry.  This is a rare opportunity to build an in-house career with an iconic company.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate legal and strategic advice to stakeholders at various levels of the organisation (including the Company’s management and the wider Group as appropriate) on relevant subjects, to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and protection of the Company’s interests across the jurisdictions in which it operates.
• Design and execute policies and standards of the Company, including development of regulatory and compliance initiatives, ensuring appropriate corporate governance and control processes, implementation of data governance measures and other projects.
• Drive streamlined procedures for contract and other approvals to govern daily activities of the Company, and enhance practices to safeguard the Company’s interests by overseeing intellectual property, trademark and brand protection.
• Draft, negotiate and advise on strategic or complex arrangements, and partake in key negotiations to achieve beneficial legal and commercial terms for the Company.
• Work with the People Department on employment and related matters.
• Manage disputes and external counsel as required.
• Provide continuous legal guidance to the Business in a clear and simple manner, to educate a young and growing workforce, by creating template legal documentation, guidance notes, and training etc.
• Lead a compact, high performing legal team that contributes to the Company’s strategies and expansion plans.

Qualifications

• Hong Kong or commonwealth qualified lawyer with excellent technical legal and communication skills.
• Minimum of 10 years PQE gained from a reputable law firm or in-house.  Aviation experience is an advantage but is not required.
• Fluency in English and Chinese.
