Role Purpose

The Manager, Sustainability, will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the airline’s sustainability strategies. Reporting to the Head of PR, this position requires a motivated individual who is passionate about driving sustainability performance that aligns with the Company’s strategic priorities and making an impact on our business through effective ESG initiatives. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Sustainability strategies, Planning, Target and Performance

  • Develop overall Sustainability strategy, implementation plan, establish applicable targets, and monitor related performance for the airline; 
  • Guide the development of the supporting strategy and implementation in the aspects of climate change, sustainable aviation fuel, carbon reduction, single-use plastics and waste reduction, community engagement, and corporate social responsibilities;

Sustainable Development Governing

  • Regular review and revise the sustainable development governance structure to ensure we meet with regulators' requirements and adopt best practices;
  • Execute governance meetings, and provide updates to stakeholders;
  • Ensure the Company is compliant with any legal requirement related to sustainable development, climate change; including but not limited to CORSIA, EU ETS etc;

Community Engagement & External Stakeholders Engagement

  • Advocate sustainable development within the Company;
  • Work with various business units to ensure sustainability consideration are built in as part of on-going business practices;
  • Work with PR & Marketing team on issues handling/ storytelling with aim to build up the brand and reputation;
  • Plan and execute community engagement initiatives. Regular review and revision of such initiatives;
  • Engagement with local NGOs, academia, think tank, government officials, especially in the aspect of environmental protection and corporate social responsibilities;
  • Support the wider sustainability objectives of Cathay Pacific & Swire Group;


Qualifications

  • Degree holder or above in Sustainable Management/ Business Administration/ Communications, or other relevant disciplines;
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in Aviation, Corporate Sustainability, ESG, or Corporate Affairs in sizeable companies;
  • Solid experience in sustainability reporting is preferred;
  • Strong business acumen, strategic planning and executive skills, be assertive with good project & time management capability;
  • Understanding and sensitivity towards public sentiment in Hong Kong and global environmental and sustainable development topics;
  • Ability to engage at the senior level; and to facilitate and lead cross-functional initiatives;
  • Good team player;
  • Excellent written English and Chinese;
